About the First Integrator Sponsor: NCMIC
 Integrator Seed Sponsor
The Integrator was founded as an electronic newsletter in early 2006 thanks to a visionary grant from the NCMIC Group.
NCMIC is
the major provider of malpractice insurance coverage for both the
chiropractic and naturopathic medical professions. The firm and its
affiliates have been industry visionaries behind numerous formative,
organizing and educational initiatives since the outset of
the integrative medicine and integrated health care dialogues.
Among the firm's sponsorships to advance inter-professional relationships has been:
- Reports on the future of CAM approaches and chiropractic.
- CME programs on practical applications in integration sponsored by Harvard Medical School and Stanford University School of Medicine.
- Integrated Healthcare Policy Consortium, a multi-disciplinary national organization which is dedicated to advancing policy, practice and education in integrated care.
 Lou Sportelli, DC, NCMIC President
Completion of a national guideline on headaches through Duke University.
- National Policy Dialogue to Advance Integrated Health Care: Seeking Common Ground, the report from which is available here.
- Integrative
Medicine Industry Leadership Summits, three national gatherings between
2000-2002 which allowed leaders of diverse stakeholders to explore
common issues.
- The Employer and Managed Care Working Group of the Collaboration for Healthcare Renewal Foundation.
- Development of the chiropractic and naturopathic medical professions and their educational organizations.
The firm has made a series of
strategic investments in research which have helped, especially, in
creating the evidence-base for chiropractic, and in that field's
inclusion in federal programs. (Disclosure note: I serve on an advisory
board for NCMIC.)
The leadership of NCMIC in making these investment has been through its president, Lou Sportelli, DC.
Sportelli has been involved as a leader in chiropractic and as an
oberver and participant in the emergence of integrated care for over 40
years.
The Integrator Blog is deeply grateful for this initial sponsorship. For more information: www.ncmic.com.
