Leadership Summit Report: May 2000
Reporting on the
spontaneously birthed initiatives in integrated healthcare payment and delivery
around the country continuously stimulated a desire to network individuals with
others who were in similar environments, facing similar challenges. These
Summits brought people together for this purpose. They also began with the bias
that, to better the whole of a health system in crisis, the evolving field
might best model a new wholeness in practice. We brought all key industry
stakeholders into these gatherings: payers, hospitals, employers, HMOs, academics,
government, CAM networks, professional organizations, and venture
capitalists. The first Summit, engaged with core sponsorship of The Integrator and
Integrative Medicine Communications, included representatives of 75
organizations. Clem Bezold, PhD, facilitated the meeting and Jery Whitworth, RN,
