Three long-time colleagues recently made me a
wonderful offer that met with a rising personal area of interest: the global
movement for integrative health and medicine.
This has been gestating in me particularly
since 2012 when I was invited by the World Health Organization (WHO) to the first of two meetings in Hong
Kong to serve on working groups for the now published WHO
traditional medicine strategy: 2014-2023.
Here's the story: Michele Mittelman,
RN, MPH, the co-founder and CEO of the peer-reviewed and indexed
Global Advances in Health and Medicine (GAHMJ)
shared that she and GAHMJ's co-editors Mary Jo Kreitzer,
RN, PhD and Robert Saper, MD, MPH wanted me to work
with them. I've been a big fan of the Global Advances' mission since
the beginning: whole systems, integrative, interprofessional, case reports and
of course global. What's not to like? GAHMJ
has produced multiple special issues on critical themes for the movement.
Co-Founder and CEO Mittelman: inviting the opportunity
I
said 'Yes!" I now send you this heads-up as many
of you may find
peering into these global dimensions of our work via this open-access resource fun,
fascinating and useful.
One piece of my new work is a regular column
for the GAHMJ journal. Fun challenge. The more significant is an 8-10 times per month Global
Integrator Blog for Global Advances' expanding web portal. Here are features:
In my
first post I explain my mission: Global
Integrator: Blogging Globally to Support Local Action in
Integrative Health and Medicine.
As always, my ability to support our combined efforts will be a function of
what you feed me. Send ideas and information! I hope you find these journeys
stimulating and useful!
In health,
