Integrative Health and Medicine in Communities

  • An addiction treatment program from BioCorRx that links a Naltrexone implant with health coaching is being tested in an integrative clinic in California.

    Harvard Pilgrim Health Care members in has a new Eastern Harmony program that includes 20 acupuncture treatments, developed for its Chinese and Indian clientele but open to all.
  • The Oregon Association of Naturopathic Physicians has filed suit against two insurers based on the federal law Section 2706 that prohibits discrimination against provider types.
  • The Centers for Integrative Medicine and Healing (CIMH) which calls itself "America's  leading and most successful Acupuncture Clinic" has sent a release announcing it has "again taken a giant leap forward in the world of Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine advancement with their launch of their exclusive Virtual Symptom IndicatorTM (VSI) found on their website.
  • The naturopathic PCMH run by Martin Milner, ND in Portland, Oregon is featured here.
  • Here is a significant Florida article on the growth of functional medicine in Florida practices.
  • University of Western States has a new community-focused program with Cheryl Hawk, PhD, DC directing, the Center for Lifestyle and Functional Medicine. 
  • Two integrative psychiatrists are publicizing an "evidence-based breath work" workshop in August on Cape Cod.
  • The ambitious, Boston-based Visions HealthCare, an integrative, subscription-based practice, has shut its doors.
  • A survey by Charles Elder, MD at Kaiser Northwest Permanente shows over 50% of those with pain using alternatives such as chiropractors and acupuncturists and few spoke to the regular doctors.
